Oktoberfest Trip Report
- by Leah Fisk
40 fun-seekers (and one bearded beer wench) headed out for a 12 hour adventure to Oktoberfest in Leavenworth Washington on October 8. The day started off with a bus ride from Richland to Leavenworth complete with bagels, muffins and other various snacks. To ensure everyone was dressed the part, prizes were given out that included boot-shaped beer steins (das boots), German hats, blonde pigtails, lederhosen vests, pretzel glasses, and Oktoberfest-themed beads. We arrived in Leavenworth in time for the parade and tapping of the keg. After 5.5 hours of polka bands, biergartens, Wiener schnitzels, German beer, and more lederhosen than you can shake a stick out; the party goers returned to the bus for the ride home....after a pizza stop of course.
