There is an extra need for clothing sizes that are large and extra large. Please note that the program cannot accept skis, boards, or boots. A REMEMBERANCE FOR MAX VOGEL A DEDICATED MEMBER
Happy New Year from the Desert Ski Club!
A memorial service for Max Vogel is Saturday, November 5th, 11:00, at South Hills Church, Kennewick. Max’s celebration of life party, RSVP [email protected] is Monday, November 7th. At 4:30, Hampton Inn Richland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Skyline Adventures-Ski Bluewood.
Max Arthur Vogel passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 12 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 89. Max was born in St. Gallen Switzerland in 1927 where he lived until the age of 12. He then immigrated to the US, and lived in the Washington DC area where he eventually graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Max was a Korean War Veteran and was a member of the US Army Chemical Corps.
Max’s engineering career began at Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburg, PA where he worked until the mid-1960’s. He married his life-long sweetheart, Kathleen and eventually had five wonderful daughters that he considered his greatest accomplishment. Wanting a change from the east coast, Max sought employment at the Hanford Nuclear Site and joined Westinghouse Hanford in 1967 where he worked until he retired in 1989. Kathleen and Max were married for 52 years at the time of her passing in April, 2005.
The greatest joys of Max’s life were, his wife, children, grandchildren, his love for being active outdoors, and his faithful beloved dog, Leon.
Max is survived by his daughters: Linda Vogel, Diane Vogel, Carol Warner Vogel, Valerie (Jerry) Hathaway, and Heidi (Merril) Gordon. Grandchildren: Crystal (Scott) Williams, Noel Hathaway, Dayla Hathaway, Xavier Warner, and Dillon Gordon. Great granddaughter Ava Williams.
